Visualization Made Easy

Updated: May 2, 2023

Introduction

You have probably heard about visualization being used in the practice of manifesting. And depending on your personality, you either love it and it excites you, or you think it feels weird and have no idea how to do it correctly. But I am here to help you and provide some insight and ideas for how you can start your visualization practice.

I am one of those people that visualizing and dreaming just comes so naturally that I love this part of my day. I can daydream for hours if you ask me to or if I have the extra time. And I definitely make sure to spend part of my day in visualization.

But let’s start with the basics. When discussing using visualization to manifest, visualization is simply the act of daydreaming—more than that, it is your ability to imagine everything you manifest as coming true. You are trying to picture your future self doing or being whatever it is you want.

But visualization is not just using your imagination but also aligning your energy with the emotion and visions. We have talked a lot about energy, and this is just another way you need to focus your positivity and become the magnet to your desires.

Now let’s break down some ways you can learn to visualize effectively.

Meditation

Before I begin a visualization meditation, I like to set my intention and review my index cards with the details of what I am manifesting currently (more on those below). Having those thoughts clear and fresh in your mind is essential before you start. And remember, in your list of 10 things you are currently manifesting (from your daily gratitude journal), all 10 of those things need to have the central focus of your big deal for the year. The most important thing you are manifesting.

Now find a comfortable spot, on the floor, in your favorite chair, or where ever you can be relaxed and not disturbed. Focus on breathing in a rhythmic pattern that includes deep breaths in and out through your nose. Clear your mind of all business and then set the scene for imagining yourself doing or being whatever you are manifesting. Feel it. See it. Be joyful and free in it. Let it all play out in your mind.

Vision Boards

Most people know what a vision board is but need to realize it is an excellent tool for ongoing visualization. If you are someone who needs images to look at to feel, and be able to imagine where you are going, then this is a great tool.

Make a board of magazine cut-outs, photos, and image collages, or create a virtual vision board. But then, instead of just making your vision board and setting it aside, place it somewhere where you will see it throughout the day. Then periodically revisit it during the day to help you imagine your life and all that you are creating.

Remember, the magic takes place in the emotions and energy you put into creating the vision board and then the attention you focus on it every day.

Write it Out

Earlier, when I was discussing meditating, I mentioned my index cards. I have taken each of the ten items I write out daily in my gratitude journal and expanded on them in detail on index cards. These details take those one-sentence things and turn them into a word picture.

Then every day, specifically at 11:11 and 2:22, and whenever I feel the call or desire to visualize, I pull those cards out and read them with joy, excitement, and genuinely picturing whatever it is. Some days those moments are just as long as it takes me to read the cards; other days, I ponder each card, really dreaming about what that looks like.

Ultimately, people visualize in many ways, including many ways I did not mention here. But, hopefully, this will get you started and moving towards visualization and manifesting the life of your dreams.
